Lostwithiel Preschool first opened its doors in 1969. It was created to serve a need for fun and stimulating learning for the preschool-aged children in Lostwithiel and the surrounding areas.  Forty years later as a registered charity it remains a community- based group, run by a management committee under a Preschool Learning Alliance constitution.   After nearly 20 years at the Community Centre it moved into brand new, bespoke premises at the Lostwithiel Primary School site in January 2011. 

 Facilities include a level entrance into a bright and spacious main room, with low level sinks and toilets and a separate disabled WC.  Sliding doors lead to a decked area and enclosed adventure playground beyond.

 Lostwithiel Preschool is Ofsted registered to deliver care to a maximum of 20 children, aged from two and a half to five years. There are currently 35 children on roll including 25 children who receive government funding for nursery education. Children attend for a variety of sessions during the week and parents can choose 2.5 hour or 3 hour sessions. We operate a key worker system so children and parents always know who is there to support all aspects of the individual children’s emotional and educational wellbeing.  The provision welcomes, and willingly supports children with learning difficulties or disabilities, and the setting values linguistic diversity, for which excellent and ongoing provision has been made to develop opportunities for children with english as an additional language to thrive.
